For the second time, the Christmas season is dominated by the Corona pandemic. Together with the new laws, unfortunately it’s hard to get into the Christmas mood and a lot of things will be different this year.

However, I don’t want to miss out on a special tradition: my reading tips for Christmas. When the days are getting shorter and colder, there’s nothing better than reading a good book with a hot cup of tea on a cozy couch.

So here they are: my latest book recommendations and reading tips for the Christmas season. Have fun!

Why we sleep by Matthew Walker

This book has been recommended to me many times. It’s been on my reading list for a while, but since I don’t have a problem with my sleep, I’ve always put it on the bottom of my list.
I read the book in English and I really liked the subtle humor. This makes the book quite entertaining despite the dry subject matter.

Der Astronaut (Originaltitel: Project Hail Mary) von Andy Weir

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

This is the latest science fiction novel by the author of The Martian. And the book is really awesome! A dear friend recommended the novel to me, so I started reading it. And honestly, without the recommendation, I probably would have stopped reading it after the sample. The novel is written in the first person, and the main character seemed too calm and uninvolved for me for the unbelievable situation he found himself in.
But I stuck with it, and soon I loved the book, and eventually I couldn’t put it down – really awesome!
I then recommended it to others, and my friend felt the same as me: Strange at the beginning, and then just awesome!
A lot of humour, a little bit of science, and of course a lot of fantasy – a must for every science fiction fan!

Meditations & Mindfulness by Andy Puddicombe

Meditations & Mindfulness by Andy Puddicombe

I started meditating with the app “Headspace” years ago. Andy Puddicombe, the author of the book, is the co-founder of Headspace. He lived as a monk in various Asian monasteries for 10 years. After his return, he started to work as a meditation teacher and later founded “Headspace” with a chance acquaintance.
His approach to meditation is so fresh, it immediately attracted me!
The book is a good introduction to the topic, especially since it’s only 300 pages, but it hardly feels like 200.
The app is also a good start – I started with the app.
The choice is yours 🙂
