Also this year, the summer and the vacation season are a little special for well-known reasons and of course this also affects my family and me. So this year, unfortunately, we could not go on a major trip, but have made exciting day trips and also sometimes enjoyed doing nothing to the fullest.
And I finally had time to relax on the deck chair (or on the couch, depending on the weather) with a good book.
Therefore, I stick with the tradition and present you my latest book recommendations and reading tips for the late summer. Have fun and of course I hope that there is also something interesting for you!
I have read almost everything by Daniel Suarez, and found all the novels good. I especially liked Daemon and its successor Darknet, although Daemon was better. Both books were recommended to me by a good colleague who travels regularly between Berlin and Nuremberg as an Automic consultant and consumes these books as audiobooks. On this way again many thanks, dear Martin (if you read this)! 😊
I have read two books by Frank Schätzing, The Swarm and Tyranny of the Butterfly. I think the books are too long and in both cases I would have liked the story to have been told in half the length. Both stories are awesome, but the style is really not my thing.
I’ve been wanting to read “The Pillars of the Earth” for years. As a alternative to the sci-fi thrillers or non-fiction books I usually read. The release of the prequel “Kingsbridge” last year has now made me finally read it! I started with the prequel and read “Kingsbridge” first, and then “The Pillars of the Earth”. I was curious about what I learn and experience about life in those time periods. Surprisingly, I also found the political intrigue that makes up the plot in the books extremely entertaining. And the characters are fantastic, I had a hard time putting the books down! Luckily there are two more parts 😊
Just some comics to chill by the pool, and if you have to stay at home because of Corona or because you can’t travel, I recommend the “LTB – Stories from Duckburg”.
