Have you ever been to Vienna in the time before Christmas? Sure, the city is always worth visiting. But I think it’s particularly nice in advent season. The old buildings are beautifully illuminated, there‘ snow on the rooftops and the streets (at least with some luck). And then there’s the Christkindlmarkt with delicious food and hot spiced wine.

Vienna, winter mood, Christkindlmarkt – there’s only one thing missing, right? A bit of Automation Engine will make it the perfect trip. To provide you with your dose of Automic, I’m offering the Database Knowledge Workshop in Vienna from November 28 to November 30.

New Concept with Even More Exercises

The concept of the Database Workshop was further improved in the course of this year. One of my favorite quotes is attributed to Confucius (553-473 B.C.) and goes like this:

„I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.“

Following this, the theoretic part of the workshop now has even more exercises for a perfect learning effect.

Handling the Different Versions

It’s very important to me, that the workshop is adjusted to the special requirements of it’s participants. Because of this, the workshop will be done on the Automation Engine V11.2.3 with SQL Server 2012 and Oracle 12c. This is the environment, most of my clients and participants work with. They can directly use their new knowledge (and also the scripts) on their own systems.

Of course, some are still using older version or are currently in the process of upgrading the system. In the workshop we will talk about all the changes in the version since V10. I will talk about the progress, describe the changes in usage, and for all examples we will discuss how they work on other versions.

The workshop materials also include the extensive Database Changelog, documenting all changes since V8.

V12 in the Spotlights

the most important Automic topic in 2016 is definitively the new verion V12. Next week, on NovemberDas größte Automic-Thema in diesem Jahr ist ganz klar die neue Version V12. Next week, on October 4, it will officially launch. Again, many Automic users are facing the question: Should I upgrade?

In the Database Knowledge Workshop, we will also deal with the new version. I’ll present new features, talk about changes to the database and the consequences for SQL queries.

Participants then can see for themselves, whether they want to make the upgrade at once or prefer waiting for the first service pack.

Christkindlmarkt for Everyone

Well, again, it’s advent season and we shouldn’t miss that. I will invite all the participants of the workshop to the fair. There I will preset the results of my intensive research about the nicest places and best booths of the Christmas market.
